Society to Review its Outward Giving

Apr 27, 2016

The Royal Celtic Society currently supports 17 charities with an annual grant.  These include pipe bands, clarsach groups, Gaelic-medium education projects, Highland games and folk museums.  Additionally, on-off grants are regularly made for specific projects including conference events, research and publishing.

It is several years since the list of annual beneficiaries was revised and the Council will therefore conduct a comprehensive review of the Society’s outward giving when it meets in September.

Annual donations are distributed every May and when cheques are issued next month, recipients will be invited to re-tender for their annual grant.  New proposals will be considered at the same time, alongside a number of requests for one-off support which are currently under consideration.

If you would like to apply for a Royal Celtic Society grant, please contact the Secretary via the “Apply for a Grant” tab at the top of this page.  Support is available both annually and on a once-only basis, for projects which reflect the Society’s charitable objectives.  Please don’t be put off by the section on the form that asks for details of your charity; many of the orgaisations the Society supports are charities, but funds may be made available to any project, including those run by private individuals, that in the Council’s opinion will advance the Society’s objectives.

Please submit your proposal before 30th August 2016.  Proposal documents will then be circulated to members of the Royal Celtic Society’s Council so that they can be considered in advance of the meeting on 24th September.  Successful applicants will be contacted shortly after that date.
